  • Common regulations

    І. COMMON REGULATIONS

    1.1. The Organizers of the Photographic Competition are the Ministry of Culture Ministry of Culture of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Ceramology Institute – the branch of the Ethnology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, NGO “The Congress of the Ukrainian Ceramologists”, the National Union of Art Photographers of Ukraine, the International Photographic Movement ISF – Image sans Frontière (Image without Borders), the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Ceramic Society, the Presidential Leonid Kuchma Fund Ukraine, the Ukrainian Fund of Culture.

    1.2. The Photographic Competition is hold under the general protection of the National Union of Art Photographers of Ukraine and the International Photographic Movement ISF – Image sans Frontière (Image without Borders).

    1.3. The main purpose of the Photographic Competition is to reveal and show the beauty of pottery craft through the art photography on the subject of pottery, to determine the best photographic works, to popularize the creative work of art photographers and theirs works, to stimulate the professional and creative advancement of the participants of the Photographic Competition.

    1.4. The National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne (102 Partyzanska Street, Opishne, Poltava Region, 38164, Ukraine; phone: +38 (05353) 42416, 42415, 42417; fax: +38 (05353) 42416; e-mail: pottery@opishne-museum.gov.ua; www.opishne-museum.gov.ua)

    1.5. January 13 – July 03, 2020 were indicated as the date of the Photographic Competition.

             The works will be received until May 15, 2020.

             The work of the Jury will take place May 29, 2020.

    The ceremony of the grand announcement of the results and the award presentation of the winners: July 03, 2020, 3 pm.

    The exposing of the Photo Exhibition will take place from July 03 to October 30, 2020.

    1.6. The nominations of the Photographic Competition:

    I. RetroVISIONS (photos of bygone years (to the late20th century), which reflect the past of the pottery craft);

    II. CeramoADVERTISEMENT (popularization and advertising of earthenware and pottery craft in general);

    III. WonderWORLD of Ceramics (photos reflecting the diversity and beauty of ceramics);

    IV. PERSONages (photographic portraits of famous people, connected with pottery craft, ceramics).

    V. ArchaeoVISIONS (archeological ceramics in artistic photography).

    Only the works which do not break the copyright for the archaeological excavations can be admitted to the competition. Photos of archaeological research materials, which have been obtained illegally, are not allowed to participate in the photo contest.

    VI. CeramoEROTICS (transmission of intimate emotions through artistic photo of ceramics).

  • Terms of participation

    ІІ. TERMS OF PARTICIPATION

    2.1.  The participation in the Photographic Competition is free of charge.

    2.2. Professional photographers, amateurs, reporters, and all persons interested regardless of their citizenship, home country, age, sex, nationality, professional education, etc. are invited to take part in the Photographic Competition.

    2.3. Photographers willing to participate in the Photographic Competition, should submit digital versions of photos (printed works) and the application form according to the sample given in the addendum to the Management of the National Museum of the Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne (hereinafter referred to as the Management) for the preliminary selection and for the making of photos by 15.05.2020

    2.4.Photographers may submit no more than 4 photos (including series of photos united by one topic, plot, idea – no more than 4 photos in the series) in each nomination to the Photographic Competition. The photo should not have any signatures and marks that could identify its author. Competitive works and author’s rights on them should belong to the persons, who put them at disposal. The Organizers are not responsible for any infringements of copyright by the Participants.

    2.5.The works sent for the Photographic Competition are not reviewed and are not returned. Photos that have not been chosen for the final exhibition are not returned back. They are transferred for the permanent storage in the National Archive of the Ukrainian Pottery. The Organizers of the Photographic Competition keep the privilege to use the photo creative works for the purpose of popularization of the Photo Competition in their printed matter, on the sites of the organizers, for using in photo exhibitions and other actions with the preservation author’s rights and without payment of the royalties.

    2.6. The submitting of an application for the participation in the Photographic Competition and the sending of photos are regarded as the author’s consent to the disclosure of the personal data stated in the application, and the usage of his or her photo by the Organizers of the Photographic Competition in the mass-media for the popularization the Photographic Competition and the creative work of the Photo Artist. The photo works should not conflict with the rules of the Competition, the working legislation of Ukraine, and the code of morals.

  • Requirements for works

    ІІІ. THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMPETITIVE WORKS

    3.1.The competitive works should correspond with the topic of the Photographic Competition and declared nominations. In case of mismatch photos are not allowed to participate.

    3.2.   The author must mention, to what nomination of the Photographic Competition the work is given.

    3.3.  The Management accepts digital files in the uncompressed JPG (TIF) format, 300 dpi of the same size as the printed photo, or the printed photos of the minimal size of the short side of 30 cm, with the maximal size of the long side of 45 cm, with the compulsory marking Top of the Picture. The information about the depicted image (name), date and place of shooting, surname, name, patronymic, and home address of the author of the photo (stated on the reverse side of the photo) is added for the printed photo works as well. Digital files should be subscribed according the pattern: Country_Author_Title_Place of shooting. A text file with the description of given works could be given as well. The photo work should be shot in 2015 – the first half of 2020 (except for the nomination RetroVISIONS).

    3.4. The images could be examined for the purpose of checking their conformity with the rules of the Photographic Competition. The participant will be disqualified for refusing to cooperate with the organizers or to provide original files, photographed with the camera, or all the documentation. It is recommended to leave EXIF data in provided files intact in order to facilitate the investigations.

    ІV. THE DETERMINATION OF WINNERS OF THE PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION. AWARDS

    4.1. All the contest works, chosen for the final Photographic Exhibition by the Expert Council are appraised by the Jury. Works will be exposed without mention of the authors and their land of abode at this time. The decision of the Jury is final and cannot be a subject of appeal.

    4.2.   The Jury includes:

    Roman Ginsburgan art photographer, a member of the National Union of Art Photographers of  Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine);

     Yuriy Zilinsky, an art photographer, a member of the National Union of Art Photographers of  Ukraine, PPSA, EFIAP, Hon.FtGM, the chairman of the public Photographic Club Sofit (Lubny, Ukraine);

    Vadym Kozlovsky, an art photographer, a member of the National Union of Art Photographers of  Ukraine, a member of the Artistic Council of the National Union of Art Photographers of  Ukraine (Vinnytsya, Ukraine);

    Rostyslav Kondratan art photographer, a member of the board of the National Union of Art Photographers of  Ukraine, a representative of the International Photographic Movement Image sans Frontière (ISF) in Ukraine, an artist (AFIAP) of the International Federation of Photo Art (FIAP), a honorary member of the Photo Fédération of Sri Lanka (Hon. FNPAS), head of the public photo club Columbus (Tysmenytsya, Ukraine);

    Lyubov Kotlyar, an art photographer, a member of the National Union of Art Photographers of  Ukraine, Chairman of the Kyiv Organization of the National Union of Art Photographers of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine);

    Serhiy Nazarkin, an art photographer, a member of the National Union of Art Photographers of  Ukraine (Poltava, Ukraine);

    Tetyana Pavlyk, a watercolour artist, a photographer, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, National Union of Art Photographers of  Ukraine of Ukraine and the public photo club Columbus, the Honoured Artist of Ukraine (Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine);

    Eduard Stranadko, an art photographer, the chairman of the board of the National Union of Art Photographers of Ukraine, the Honoured Culture Worker of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine);

    Oleksandr Kharvat, a photographer, a member of the Board of the National Union of Art Photographers of  Ukraine of Ukraine, a member of  the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine and the National Union of Local History of Ukraine, the Honoured Artist of the International Federation of  Photo Art (EFIAP) (Rivne, Ukraine);

    Yuriy Chernevyi, an art photographer, social activist, a member of the National Union of Art Photographers of  Ukraine, Honored Artist of the International Federation of Photo Art at UNESCO (EFIAP), holder of the title Proficiency PSA of the Photographic Society of America (PSA), Chairman of the Dolyna People’s Photographic Club Promin, the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council’ Deputy, Doctor of Biology, Academician of Forestry Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the principal of Ukraine Carpathian Forestry College (Bolekhiv, Ivano-Frankivsk Region, Ukraine).

    4.3. The Organizers of the Photographic Competition accompany the works with relevant descriptive notes after the completion of the Jury work. The works compliant to requirements from paragraphs 3.1–3.4 and approved for exposition by the members of the Jury can be allowed to take part in the final exposition;

    4.4. The results of the Photographic Competition will be given on the websites of the National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne (www.opishne-museum.gov.ua), the Ceramology Institute – the branch of the Ethnology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (www.ceramology-inst.gov.ua) and the National Union of Art Photographers of Ukraine (www.photospilka.com) after July 03, 2020.

    4.5. Awards:
